Conveyance Section

Per The Elevator and Escalator Certification Act, the Division of Oil and Public Safety (OPS) is the implementing agency for regulation of elevators, escalators, automatic people movers (APM) and other hoisting and lowering mechanisms as described in the Act.  With the assistance of an Advisory Board, which includes representatives of local government and industry, OPS has developed and implemented emergency regulations to enforce the Act.  These emergency regulations will be in place for 90 days or until permanent regulations are promulgated.  Please refer to the links below for further information. The public hearing for Proposed Amendments to the Conveyance Regulations will be held on November 3, 2009, 1:00 p.m. at 633 17th Street, Suite 2A, Denver, CO 80202.

If you have comments or recommended changes, please have them available on or before the November 3rd meeting. If you cannot attend the meeting, but would still like to comment on the rules, please send your comments to michael.stewart@state.co.us. In addition, you will have an opportunity to comment on the proposed rules at the hearing. Please disseminate the draft rules to any other interested parties.
