Description:
Operator trainers are required to develop
curriculum and assessment for all course content teaching requirements.
Curriculum and assessment must be submitted for approval before
certification can be acquired. Operator trainers must provide a biography
of previous experience and proof of qualifications.

Course Content Teaching Requirements:
Be able to pass the ICC-Colorado A&B
Operator Test or an equivalent test.
Be knowledgeable enough to develop a program in order to train operators in
the following:

What’s regulated: size of tanks,
hazardous vs. nonhazardous material

Compatibility: product being stored

Registration:
know deadlines for registration including updates and changes

Installation/Permitting: know time
lines and process

Performance standards: equipment
upgrading requirements

Secondary containment: trigger point
for equipment upgrade requirements

Closure & Temporary Closure:
notification procedures and testing requirements

Delivery prohibition: events leading to
(equipment or written notification)

Release detection: SIR, ATG, Manual
tank gauging, Inventory control, etc.

Cathodic protection: installation,
testing and inspection requirements

Operator training: A, B&C Operating

Teaching Strategies:
How will you be presenting training
materials to potential operators? (ie: web-based, classroom instruction,
etc.) What type of assessment will you administer to show proficiency? What
pass/fail requirements will you institute? What are your audit procedures?
Evaluation:
Curriculum and assessment will be evaluated
by the Division of Oil and Public Safety prior to and during operator
training process. Periodic re-certification will be required.
